Re: Which postures/transitions demonstrate Lie?

Hi Bob,

Could you give an example of how your paradigm helps you in your practice?

Re: Which postures/transitions demonstrate Lie?

Greetings all, I hope everyone is healthy, staying safe, and building up your lung capacity and circulatory system with your Tai Chi at this perilous time. I have never received precise definition of the eight energies; however, I have received enough instructions to have a good feel for a range of ...

Personal Testimonial regarding Tai Chi and Back Pain

Greetings all, I attended the recent seminar on October 4-7 in Danbury, Connecticut, USA. I have intermittently suffered from low back pain for the last several decades; and two hours before leaving for the seminar, I threw out my back the worst I have done so in years. The timing couldn't have been...

Re: Knee Pain after starting Tai Chi

Tai Chi generally works the knees pretty hard, but in a controlled way. This can be great for anyone's knees. Do Tai Chi badly still works the knees pretty hard, but in a poorly controlled way. This can be bad for anyone's knees. Generally, people starting Tai Chi may feel soreness in the legs. This...

Re: Balance

Welcome Rob, Sorry for the delay in approving your post. I am not really familiar with the 24-Form routine, since I do the traditional long form. Could you post a Youtube video that shows what your aiming at? Then you could reference the exact time references to show where you are having difficulty....

Unfortunately, I could not make that seminar but will be at the U.S.A. TEACHER ACADEMY TTM-1 SEMINAR on October 4-7 in Danbury, Connecticut.

Re: Flash cards...

Greetings GVI, I think I understand your words, but not the heart behind it. Your gut seems to be telling you something that I am missing. If I am to be as helpful as I might, let me try saying things in a different way. There is nothing in the content of the interview that I particular disagree wit...

Re: Flash cards...

I do not think there is agreement that the person quoted in this interview is a descendant of the Yang Family that created Yang Style. It would be against the Yang family tradition to name a person after an ancestor, and the specific relationship of this person to the Yang Family has not been demons...

Re: Grasping Bird's Tail - Ward Off Left

Hi Frank, I believe the Association teaches to look to the right. I am not fully certain of the reason. I see from videos that at least some of Yang Chengfu's students seem to have used different arm movement and stepping directions than what we do. For instance, notice the right foot pivot and left...

Re: How to Relax in Tai Chi?

Greetings all, Many people thought that "song, 松" means relax without using any force but it was not the case. So far, I had found a best definition from the quote of one Chinese Tai Chi masters. 吴颖锋:“松”是内家拳特有的名词。所谓“松”,是指以最少的体能内耗去完成身体的合理运动。 Wu Ying Feng: "song" is an esoteric ter...

Re: EGAD! The fools want to put me on cadre - NOW WHAT?!

Any online resources or literature on the ‘practical’ application of this would be helpful (e.g. when to breath in and when to breath out for each form?). Different teachers seem to have a different understanding of this issue and so give different instruction. You must decide whom to follow based ...

Re: How to Relax in Tai Chi?

Greetings all, Nice observation from Audi. My analogy with golf probably lost those that have little knowledge or experience with the sport. The nature of "song" can also be represented by its manifestation in many other high level or elite activity/sport, be it combative or not. You canno...

Re: How to Relax in Tai Chi?

Greetings all, Dottaichi, I want to reiterate that many noted practitioners have different explanations and different ideas about relaxation. You should follow your father's idea for obvious reasons; however, I think that the Association and many of the posters use different methods. Perhaps it's a ...

Re: EGAD! The fools want to put me on cadre - NOW WHAT?!

Greetings All, Fast-forward to a few months ago when it was my great good fortune to be put in touch with an instructor who is no less than a disciple of Yang Jun himself. I've since spent about five hours training with him and I've learned more in those five hours than I had in the previous year! I...
