Wu Mengxia's: Annotations on 9 songs and 81 postures
Audi- I found the term in Chinese in regards to the discussion on exchanging energy and striking in 'da shou' and 'tui shou' from the other thread. I do not have Chinese Character however. "Gui Dai Da" having "defense including an attack" or yang within yin. here is the page in t...

Re: Yang Taiji strike hands, strike before you push

Re: Chen Taiji vs Muay Thai event in China
In the format they agreed upon, it looked like a combination of K-1 and Sanda/sanshou rules without elbow striking and muay thai clinched knees. so yes, double leg take downs were permitted. gloves were 14 oz. gloves.

Re: Yang Taiji strike hands, strike before you push
Audi, The section 'turn around and strike' is key in the "Da shou" techniques in the video. I was taught that the first fist strikes the head, the second strike which is a palm hits the chest, and third fist strikes lower ribs. The vertical circle is key for the reason it is the strongest ...

Chen Taiji vs Muay Thai event in China
Ok just watched them. The rules looked like no elbows or knees. I saw some of the chinese fighters getting saved by ref a few times. I thought i saw some bad decisions. The Chinese throws probably scored high. I saw some good Muay Thai throws. props to those Chen Taiji guys not scared to get in ther...

Time of Long Form
Something interesting I recently noticed...I was getting acupuncture and I asked the doctor if certain ailments require longer or shorter acupuncture times. His response was that there was an ancient text that describes the qi circulates to all the points in the body in one cycle anywhere from 50-60...

'Grasp the bird tail', '4 square' in Yang, CMC, other Yang.
I have been saying it for well over a decade, and now I have some video to share. I not sure where CMC came up with his style of Tui Shou, but i have argued with CMC people that the systems are NOT the same. neither is really better, it is what you as an individual put into your training. With Youtu...

Re: Question about 24 short form
Do less of the repetitive moves:
instead of 3 part horse mane, do one.
instead of 3 brush knee, do one.
instead of 4 wave hands like clouds do 2.
go figure.

Re: Many different styles of yang tai chi
Aidren, Well, I was going off on what my sifu at the time was saying 20 years ago, but I found this article which has a better description of Taijiquan postures have 4 key attributes: “begin”, “develop”, “express”, and “finish”, regardless of style.
