Re: Tai Chi on a beam

Hello Audi, Great to hear from you. At one point, I was so desperate for practice that I used an exercise ball to push with against a wall. My strategy evolved into training up partners I could push with, since I really wanted to practiced the traditional circles and techniques I had learned. The us...

Re: Tung Ying Chieh's Red book

Hello Louis, I saw your question, What's the simplest way of acquiring Dong's book? I pursued this a few years back, without success. If you haven't gotten a copy yet, I have a couple of suggestions. The first is Chip Ellis's website. He seems to offer a way to purchase the book. http://www.chipelli...

Re: Tung Family Tai Chi

Hello T, Great to hear from you again. And I have seen Alex’s website before and he may or may not be correct. He is in the Tung Family but he is a student of his father (Dong Zeng Chen ) who was a student of his grandfather (Tung Hu Ling) who was a student of his great grandfather (Tung Ying Chieh)...

Re: Tai Chi on a beam

Hello Audi, Thanks for your response. Thanks for sharing. I have not seen this particular practice before. I think what I do that is closest to this practice is to try to push so that both feet of the other person leave the ground while I, myself, take a maximum of one controlled step forward. I ass...

Re: Tung Family Tai Chi

Hello T, Thank you for your response. The posting is great. I happen to own the Red Book and the smaller Red Book(?) illustrating Tai Chi applications. My Sifu was a student of Tung Ying Chieh and taught with Tung Hu Ling in Thailand and as far as I know Tung Ying Chieh never traihned with Yang Shao...

Re: Tung Family Tai Chi

Hey Audi, Great to hear from you. I had not seen this "video" before. It is great to finally get some idea of what Chen Wei-ming's form looked like. Glad you liked the Chen Wei-ming video. I enjoy it also. Years ago, someone showed me his book and the pictures of his form stuck with me. In...

Re: Tung Family Tai Chi

Hello Audi, Thank you for the response. I’ve greatly enjoyed reading your comments and that of the other frequent contributors on this sight over the past years. I agree that Tung Hu Ling and the Yang Association Tai Chi are similar. I think there’s good reason for it. As far as I can gather, Tung H...

Tai Chi on a beam

I saw a video that reminded me of my early Tai Chi days. (I’m a 20 + year avid Tai Chi enthusiast) I'm not sure this video is appropriate for this forum but it reminded me of the fun I use to have I dare to share. The name of the video is Tai Chi wrestling on beam. This is the link: http://www.youtu...

Tung Family Tai Chi

I've been reading comments here for a few years and have enjoyed and learned from them. This is my first post. It is a link to rare video of Tung Hu Ling’s 3rd set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vGrIgrtfO4 The video is not very clear but still very worthy. There is much better quality video of his...
