Hi Tripper, I’m interested to know your perspective on the characteristics of Wu style internal energy. Because I don’t have any background in Wu style, would you be willing to talk a little about your experiences with this so I can have something to compare my experience with Yang style to? I’m def...

Thanks Audi, and hi everyone, A couple other thoughts about rhythm that aren't directly tied to the duration of form practice: MYJ spoke recently about the small internal circles that link one movement to the next. Externally, they are not/barely visible. He amplified the circle size in the transiti...

Hi Rakyat, The only way that I could see a forced rhythm change being bad for health is if your mind is resistant to going at that pace. Resistance in the mind can create tension in the body, leading to blocked chi. If one sets the intention of going along with the class, whatever speed, the body ca...

Hi All, What a fascinating discussion! As can probably be surmised from my posts, I love words and delving into their meanings and contexts. I often feel at a loss because I don’t have access to the facets of Chinese terminology except for the generosity of those on this board and at the tai chi sch...

Welcome Tripper, Sounds like a good topic to me! I look forward to hearing more about the internal similarties and differences between Wu and Yang and other styles as well...but I've only studied Yang style and am not terribly far along with the internal stuff so I'll have to wait with you for other...

Hi CFTC and others,

Sorry to intrude, but can someone tell me what `chieh jin' is? I looked through my copies of the classics but didn't see those words (mine are all translated into English). How does it work? (Not that I could do it yet--just curious.)

Thank you,
Kal

I'm working on: rooting through the bubbling well, relaxing the waist and hips to root the torso through the legs, not dipping my head to maintain central equilibrium, using the felt-sense of central equilibrium to correct head posture/gazing direction, using the mind to guide the body in a single u...

Hi all, Thought this bit was relevant to the discussion at foot http://www.yangfamilytaichi.com/ubb/smile.gif "Culture is public because “meaning is,” and systems of meanings are what produce culture, they are the collective property of a particular people. When “we,” either as researchers or s...

Hi CFTC,

Ah, I see what you mean about the straight being the line from the bubbling well to the opponent's center. In this case, both scenarios work so long as any point that is "out of alignment" is abandonned.

Thanks,
Kal
