Although forgetting the sequence in the middle of a ranking seems a bad idea, I enjoy it (occasionally) in my own practice. It's like opening the door to my home and finding myself in a strange and mysterious place: everything is new. It'd be dull never to be lost.

Skimming through the material, I didn't see any older video; and I ordered some other stuff so got the free shipping Image They ship from the west coast, though, so it shouldn't be too much. If you get it, maybe post a more informed summary than I can make?!

Video fans may enjoy what I think is a newly released pair of vcds, "Grand Tai Ji Master Yang Zhen Duo" ($7.99 at yesasia). The first has extensive interviews with the grand master plus video from the recent birthday bash (including a few seconds of what looked like all the center director...

Yang Jun has been thinking about this verse; here's his translation and gloss from the Michigan seminar: "Gongfu never ends; the method--you have to find it for yourself." That is, he explained, as you face different opponents in push hands. Or, further, there's the saying "the teache...

I suspect I'm not the only one on this Board who's ordinarily stuck practicing on their own. I think it's possible (if slow) to self-correct some things, once one has a "feel" for what's right. "Sink chi"--I haven't yet been able to find what that refers to. So thanks, all, for t...

Thanks for the seminar review! Now those of us off to Detroit this weekend can get even more excited. Audi, you've now mentioned twice your deeper understanding of "sink the chi." Hmmm--why not try to voice it in detail, for those of us with no understanding at all!--maybe in a new thread?...

I like it when I feel sort of the opposite of tired after practice. But then, I'm an old lady, so I get to feel tired all the time without having to do anything in particular to achieve it.

This won't help with Neo-Confucian origins, but is a follow-up to Bob. There's a commonplace model in skills training of various kinds that learning proceeds in stages: unconscious incompetence conscious incomptence conscious competence unconscious competence Here the English word "consciousnes...

I vividly remember the President's Fitness test. In particular, I was confused why President Kennedy wanted to humiliate me. I figured it was because he was so healthy and glowing. One year, a PE teacher insisted that I couldn't hang from a rope for no seconds--I had to hang longer. Other than that,...

Hello, all: This is great advice for the ambitious student--someone who is on the way to being a "regular contributor" to the Tai Chi community: thanks! Some students--such as us fat old ladies--may also need a stern warning about the duty to care for onself, including specific pointers fo...
