Re: Fact checker: yang chen fu taught at Imperial palace?

A question about "Qi"
(I'd like to apologise in advance if this is a stupid question) Hi there everybody. I'd like to ask a question about Qi, but would like to set the scene for the question first, if that's ok. Over the past few months i've read a good few books on Taijiquan. Chen Xiao wang, Chen Wei ming, Yang Chengfu...

Re: Yang Fast Form (aka Long Boxing aka 59 movment)
Hi there Audi. All i can do to shine any further light on the subject is copy/paste the descriptive article from Master Ding's site. I will be going over to Hamburg in September, so maybe after that i will be able to help more. It should be noted that the form (the snake form) is not the same as the...

Re: Yang Fast Form (aka Long Boxing aka 59 movment)
Hi there. I feel ill equiped to comment due to the experience of those who commented before me, however i will soldier on. Our club teaches a form that is sometimes called a "Fast form", I have yet to learn it, but will be travelling to Hamburg in September to learn it for the first time. ...

Journey to the west
Hi there guys (and ladies). I'm looking to buy the four Chinese classics - "Journey to the West", "The water margins", "Dream of the red mountains", and "Romance of the three Kingdoms". I'm looking for recommendations for good translations. Also, if you reply ...

Re: Daily Practise vs weekly class
I kind of wondered if that continuous training was part of what sets Tai Chi apart, and if it's integral to the process of improvement. There is a lot of Mystery around Tai Chi, even a lot of my Chinese friends are taken in by the "you have to do it early in the morning" thing, and for me ...

Re: Daily Practise vs weekly class
Thanks for the response T. I guess what i am getting at is...is less the same as none when there is a level of conditioning being achieved daily? I'm still at the stage when my legs are sometimes jelly by the time i get to the long form, and i wake up with tired legs (?) some days. Is dropping from ...

Daily Practise vs weekly class
Hi there. This will probably go down as silly question number 2, but i'll throw it out there and see how it's received. I practise every day, maybe for 1 hour 10 mins to 1h 20. I do maybe 35 mins Qi gong, then core exercises, then forms. Unfortunately, i work shift work and i have a young family. So...

Re: Nice to meet you
If you liked the girl, you'll love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MOOs1GIxmQ This definitely has a Chen style feel to it. One of my favourite videos is this one, this guy is Cheng man Ching. I like his attitude on Tai Chi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xF6Px5K59I I'm subbed to this guy, bu...

Re: Nice to meet you
Hey Chris. First, is the video you want us to watch titled "Lei Fang Command Training - Exercise Newbie"? I know it is, but i just wanted to be sure. I'm in no way an expert, but i am a gamer (PC), so we share an intrest in that respect (I'm Huckleberryhound on steam). From what i saw, thi...

Re: The 72 stages of progress.
Oh.... Louis, i'm so sorry i never noticed till now. I was reading a thread in the book forum and just realised... I have two of your books. I have "Mastering Yang style Taijiquan", and "The essence and applications of Taijiquan". I never even noticed till someone else mentioned ...

Re: The 72 stages of progress.
Hi Bob. Thanks for the advice. I don't really look to the books for instruction, i look to them for inspiration (of sorts). I love anecdotes about the training methods of the past, or how Yang Shou Zhong used to be thrown out into the courtyard to practice in the Winter. It's a good way to keep myse...

Re: The 72 stages of progress.
Greetings Sugelanren, Don't be discouraged. I've been math challenged all my life, and I'm cheerfully skeptical of numerology. That hasn't kept me from enjoying taijiquan for nearly forty years. Or was that forty days and forty nights? --Louis Hi Louis. It's very rare that i'd get a chance to ask t...

Re: The 72 stages of progress.
You are likely referring to Peng, Lu, Ji, An, Cai, Lie, Zhou & Kao [the eight energies ‘in the hands’] No, i think i have a list of energies in one of my books that include ting jin and Fa jin. I'd have to go through them, i have little time to read what with work and family, but i like to get ...

36 types of Jin? Why did i think there was 8?
