Re: Improving cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone
Greetings, Self-testing in martial arts is patently an absurd proposition. Intuition in martial arts is also a ludicrous concept. As to your belief that just doing and practising Taiji alone will provide you with superior strength and energy is quite misguided. What you think, is not what is . You ...

Re: Faith in the effectiveness of Tai Chi
Of course [it is obvious that] unhealthy people can get healthier by practicing many things, including TJQ, but that does not automatically mean that they can fight once they become healthy. The comparison with Hung Kuen was, AFAICT, simply an example of a training system that includes progressions...

Re: Faith in the effectiveness of Tai Chi
In Tai Chi, it can be practice at any physical condition. Unfortunately, the advancement depends on the initial physical condition of the practitioner. If a person is weak to begin with, by practicing for a long time, then the physical fitness will be improved progressively. Hence, it takes longer ...

I am telling what it is. Can anyone tell me what it is not?   The “Boxers” believed that their martial art training made them invulnerable to bullets, and it is unlikely that any words could have convinced them otherwise; but they learned the truth when the bullets ripped through th...

Re: Faith in the effectiveness of Tai Chi
IMO, training for fighting requires to put these 4 mentioned attributes under development, test & pressure. I don´t know how the advanced practioners of tjq do that, but in hung kuen kung fu we have methods to start from light to full contact, from the very basic to the more elaborated techniqu...

Re: Faith in the effectiveness of Tai Chi
I really understand what you said with: There are many way to test the effectiveness of Tai Chi beside putting a TJQ practitioner in fighting ring... BUT, and that´s a big one, effectiveness in which aspect? to show stability against a push? health improvement? balance improvement? fighting? To be ...

Re: Yang Family Dao Questions
The design of the Yang style Tai Chi Sabre is well balanced. It weights two and half(2.5) pounds and was made for an one-hand operation. The point of balance is three(3) inches from the hand guard. The YSTC sabre is well balanced at the hand grip. The blade is tapper. It can be moved freely because...

Re: Yang Family Dao Questions
In comparison, the Katana was made for combat; and the YSTC sabre was designed for the purpose of Tai Chi practice. I really do not understand the point of this comment. Do you think that the practice dao design is somehow better for learning TJQ that if someone used a historically accurate reprodu...
