The only reply I can make about his is that I've read some chapters in Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming's books about them. He gives an overview of them and some beginning instructions on how to use them. Beyond that, I've never used either of these devices, or seen them used. That doesn't mean anything much, th...

P, Well, that cleared it up for me. I've never heard it put quite that succinctly before. Of course, I've rarely heard anyone give a verbal explanation of it before. Once again I bow to your ability to express these things so clearly. Wish my full time, regular instructor had been as verbal as you s...

Michael, You're right, no such thing as an unreal or illegitimate application, just those that aren't the best possible choice at that moment or just plain old won't work. The one we found by accident while messing around actually turned out to work very well and I've been playing with it all week l...

Polaris,
I love that exercise. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I've got a few people I want to show that to, and haven't for some reason.

WB,
I really don't think it could be explained in words any better than it allready was, at least I can't, but maybe Polaris can.
If so, I'd love to see it myself.

Ah, I found it.
I had also talked about the WHLC thing in Push hands/serious push hands question.
Like I said, not in as much detail, but I did make a point or two there that I didn't make here.
Anyway...
It was great.
I'm looking forward to lots of that at the seminar this weekend.

Michael, Just saw your response. Don't know why I missed it earlier today, must be slipping. I posted most of what I learned about Cloud Hands on here someplace or other earlier today. I didn't put it in it's own thread, but I did gab about it quite a bit. The finer points were: We found out NONE of...

Matt,
I have seen many a slap kick done in different forms, have done quite a few myself, but haven't heard of any in the Yang forms. I'll give that a try next form I do.

Grey, The frustration factor is one I can relate to. I feel it, all the time. This, too, is counterproductive, though. Remember this, not too darned many of us are professional TCC practicioners. Are we? We hear of these legends of the past, the Great Masters who could perform vastly unbelievable fe...

P, I didn't think the distraction factor would work, either. Until I was given a graphic demonstration by my teacher. He showed me, exactly, how that works with one form movement from the Yang sword forms. That's all I've learned so far, and it's taken me about three months to get that gull durned t...

Polaris: I also used to believe that the tassles or scarves serve no usefull purpose. This is what the Wu family taught me and so why would I have believed otherwise? However, I have since had a very graphic demonstration of what at least some of their martial purposes are as used in the Yang style,...

Michael,
Welcome to the party!
We seem to have lost Wushunut, however.
You make some excellent points.

Audi, EXACTLY!!!! Very concise posting. I'm working on the complexities of Wave Hands Like Clouds right now. I got introduced to a few new layers of complexity on that one over the weekend. Is it just me, or is that one of the most deceptively difficult movements in the forms? Also just had a new le...

The tale about the bird seemingly stuck in the hand, I've heard that one attributed to everyone from Yang (Lu Chan) Fu Kui to Sun Lu Tang to Yang (Cheng Fu) Zhao Qing. Legendary tales of prowess were not what drew me to TCC at all. I have to admit to finding TCC like most folks did, I heard about th...

Matt,
That's funny, I was just trying to figure out how I embed a photo in a reply so I could post that some picture. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

Matt, Yes, I studied under Sifu Eddie and his disciples for ten years, and then practiced that style pretty much on my own for another five. I found Yang sytle TCC when I began to look for other TCC artists in my local area (I had to move halfway across the country from my former school for my job) ...
