Re: Can anyone help me better understand "intent?"
Hi ChiDragon, Hi, Audi I don't think we have the same understanding of barehand form and fajin form practice. Barehand form is slow and greacful; and Fajin form is fast and blunt. I will cite the different forms when I can get to it. Edited to add: This is the fajin form. The difference is the speed...

Re: Tai Chi history
Hi UniTaichi, I am in agreement with what you written here, in my previous post and now. What I was trying to express was, the Original Taijiquan when it was founded by Zhang San Fung or even earlier, is from Pure Daoist Concept. Like what we agreed above statement, TJQ is being explained through mu...

Re: Jin- starts in the feet YZD
Hi mls, The method you have quoted was one of the methods that took me a long time to warm up to. A phrase like "grabbing the ground with the toes" seemed so different from the "relax, relax" method I had first read about that I was reluctant to give it serious consideration. I a...

Re: Can anyone help me better understand "intent?"
Hi ChiDragon, I am not sure I understand your post. Are you saying that you do not focus Jin in your practice of the barehand form? If not, then you are definitely doing something I do not understand. If you do, then that is all that I am trying to describe. I was using "concentrate" to me...

Re: Tai Chi history
Hi UniTaichi, I have a very simplistic view of Taichi history and their influence and that is Taiji is a Daoist concept. Period. All those so call influences are only '' an expression in words '' of the Daoist Taiji Concept' Since quite a nbr of people here agreed that the writers of the various TJQ...

Re: Can anyone help me better understand "intent?"
Hi gvi, I apologize for not answering a question put to me. I believe Audi asked me where I see the energy flowing out of my body as I do the forms. I'm sorry I forgot to answer you. I can't really describe how I see the energy leaving my body, because I don't really see or visualize anything leavin...

Re: Turning the Head in Repulse Monkey
Hi ChiDragon, My recollection is that the 24 form was not created by the Yang family, but by an individual with good training in and knowledge of Tai Chi who was able to develop a wonderful national form out of the Yang family material he had learned. If memory serves me correctly, he was invited to...

Re: 103 Long form with Yang Jun in China
Greetings all, Let’s keep a respectful tone toward anyone we single out by name or anyone we refer to on videotape. On this forum, we want to learn from each other and advance Tai Chi as a whole and not argue about whose form or Tai Chi is best in a way that most advanced masters do not themselves d...

Re: Gong Bu: Lengths and Widths
Greetings all, I have posted before about four ways to look at learning styles that I learned in a seminar. My post below requires that you explore all four learning styles to get the most out of it. It's hard to describe exercises accurately in print, so approaching them with these learning styles ...

Re: microcosmi orbit - xiao zhou tian
Hi Everyone, I basically agree with ChiDragon. Some Tai Chi practitioners practice this type of Qigong as part of the training, but, as far as I am aware, it is not part of the family style. What is the emphasis that Dr. Yang J. Ming puts on it? How does he see that it benefits his Tai Chi? Thanks, ...

Re: Yao in Yang Taijiquan training
Greetings all, I was reading some of the recent issues of Yang Family Taiji Journal and came up with this image so I could understand the nature of the theory and principle of what Master Yang Jun was talking about: anyone care to talk about or elaborate on this subject? This is how I understand Dan...

Re: Gong Bu: Lengths and Widths
Greetings all, Here is my understanding of the rules for the Yang Family bow stance. In a horse stance, the feet should be shoulder-width apart; however, a little narrower or a little wider is also acceptable, according to individual preference. Wider is more stable, but less mobile. Narrower is mor...

Re: Another important translation by Paul Brennan: Wu Zhiqin
Greetings Louis, Thanks for the posting. Brennan seems to have done his usual great job. There was one thing I happened to see that gave me pause. It is the following passage. (一)體要鬆
i. Your body should be loose.

Re: Back Pain began after Tai Chi?
Hi BK,
Tai Chi practice should normally not cause back pain. How long have you been doing Tai Chi, and how long have you been suffering the pain? Also, is there a time relationship between when you practice and when you feel the pain? Do you feel better when you don't practice?
Take care,
Audi

Re: Zhan Zhuang - what can you tell me about it?
Hi GVI, I just found out about it today and my take on it is that it is complementary to tai chi practice, as a sort of conditioning exercise but not in quite the same way that, for example, running while carrying weights on your wrists or ankles is a conditioning exercise. Dan gives an interesting ...
