The force is issued upward and outward.

Please note that (li) was understood as 勁 or 勁力(jin or jin li) since we are talking about Fajin here.

An jin is the force which is pushing forward or lifting upward.

用時須顶頭悬
At the same time, keep the head straight and move slightly upward.

含胸拔背用腰力發出

It is using the hands to grab

对方手腕和肘部
the wrist and elbow of the opponent

向下向后下沉之力
to press downward and backward force

In other words, it is a force by using the hands to grab the opponent's wrist and elbow pressing downward and backward.

It is by using two arms toward

左右上下挡開之力
the left to right and upward and downward blocking force

In other words, it is a blocking force by using two arms from the left to right and upward then downward.

Kao(jin) is in the shoulder, chest, and the upper back, etc

掤捋擠按採挒肘靠

These are the definitions defined by the Tai Chi grandmasters.
The (lu) and (elbow) were demonstrated by Chen Xiaowang(陳小旺).
The (an) and (Cai) were demonstrated by 崔仲三.

Based on the demonstrations and the descriptions of the eight jins in the video, I only see all the actions are pushing. Does anyone see the final result that the opponent was pulled toward the defender at all?

Greetings!
It seems people have different notions about fajin and start to talk about it from here and there. Somehow, the pieces just don't add up. Does anybody know what is the prerequisite for fajin? In your own words, please explain that is the way you understand it without using someone else's words for it? I am very curious! Thank you!

Good Morning CD,
To calm your ego illness, please step in my Taiji health clinic and try a glass of "home-made" jin come with a recipe of my own doing. If you want to hear my own words.
Mix:
1 cup of pure yi
1/3 cup of yang/陽 chi
1/3 cup of zhong/中 chi (have yang, have yin, there must be have a middle 中)
1/3 cup of yin/ 陰 chi
a dab of prenatal chi and a pinch of postnatal chi for good measure
1 cup of li (raw)
Put them in a Wuji blender and blend all together. Pour it into a Taiji bowl. Drink with a yin straw, all suck and don't blow.
Yes, "We Got Jin". How about you?

Just one cup of homemade jin tea won't do it. You have to drink many cups a day for many many moons to acquire its efficacy. Even though, 有些陰陽怪氣 :D :D :D

Greetings!
In my recollection, one member says pengjin(掤勁) is all over the body and another member said the same thing about kaojin (靠勁). What is this all mean? Who is correct? IMMHO There must be a difference. Are we consistent in our understanding?

It seems that most people have different notion about jin(勁). Each person has a different description. So, where are the discrepancies came from? Let's not concern us about that for now but just look into its principle. First of all, let's ask how does jin acquired? It is something very simple which your sifu(師父) had never told you.

Have you ever wondered why Tai Chi Quan was practiced so slow? You see, most people just do it slow and took it for granted. If you had done it long enough, then, you would have felt that your body strength has increased tremendously. Finally, we can say that the tremendous body strength was acquired from Tai Chi practice which is called jin(勁).

So far, is there any objection to that? If yes, please express yourself for discussion sake!
