Brennan translates Li Yiyu's taiji classics manuscript

Post by Louis Swaim »

Greetings,

Mr. Paul Brennan has posted another nice translation. This one is the set of taijiquan classics compiled by Li Yiyu, from the same hand-written manuscript reproduced and transcribed in Gu Liuxin's 太極拳術 (The art of taijiquan). Here's the link: http://brennantranslation.wordpress.com ... -classics/

By the way, this work includes the Essentials of Playing Hands 打手要言, embedded in which we find the text later known as The Explanation of Taijiquan 太極拳解. Last fall a number of us had an extended discussion and group translation of that text on this board: http://www.yangfamilytaichi.com/phpBB3/ ... f=7&t=1596 It would be interesting to compare Brennan's translation with our collective efforts. Of course, our renderings stretch over several pages of the thread, and never actually coalesced into an integrated translation.
