Taijiquan research

Post by dorshugla »

I came across this study involving the Beijing 24 form being used as "yangshengong" (spirit nourishing exercise). It was conducted by a Japanese university (Osaka);

This goes along with an article I read recently, though unfortunately I have no link to it, that found that performing Tai Chi severly reduced outbreaks of shingles in most test subjects and seemed to completely stop the outbreaks in a great many of them.
Not surprising to those of us who have known of TCC's health and longevity benefits for years. But it is nice to have some comfirmation from outside observers.

Hi, I too read a brief summary of that article about TCC and boosting immunity esp. to shingles on Dr.A.Weil's website. The study was published in the 9/03 issue of "Psychosomatic Medicine." Good news since shingles is caused by the chickenpox virus which can stay indefinitely in your body (if you've had cp).
