Thank you for all these postings, and I would be very glad to hear more. :-) If I had opportunity to do Push Hands, which is very rare here in the Philippines, I would think of learning that. But since there isn't that much opportunity here, I'll content myself doing Tai Chi, and not despair that I'...

To push or not to push hands?

I'm relatively new in Tai Chi, with barely two years of experience. I do tai chi more for health rather than-- in fact, never for-- its martial applications. Now, I heard about this push hands. Is it really necessary or a requirement that I should learn and do this to be able to really learn and mas...

Okay, okay. Excellent points, Simon, Cesar and bamboo leaf, and also yours, shugdenia. :-) I'm not abandoning the long form. Haven't mastered it yet, actually. Until I read your reply, Cesar-- quoting Yang Cheng Fu saying "repetition of earlier moves has a very good regulating function"-- ...

personalized short form

Having been aware of so many short forms of the Yang Style Tai Chi and learned a number of them, I've now become interested in inventing my very own short form. Should I pursue this or not?

snake creeps down-- help, my knee hurts

For weeks, or about a month now, I've been feeling a little pain in my left knee whenever I do Snake Creeps Down to the right. The result is that I can't bend down my left knee low enough as I want to. Can someone tell me why this happened? What did I do wrong? Or maybe, it's just that I have reache...

Thanks for all your reply. Bob and, where do I see the video clip of Fu Zhongwen and Tung Ying Chieh? Simon, thanks for the detailed description of the posture and the brief explanation on its historical significance. It's similar to the one I've read from a book on the Cheng Man Ching form, which e...

shoulder strike-- what has happened to it?

I just started studying the Ynag Style long form-- numbered as 108, 103 and even 88. I noticed that in many recent versions, instructions and videos, the "shoulder strike" posture is lost. The "white crane spreads wings" immediately follows the "raise hands" posture... ...

I can't seem to kick high enough so that my right toes or foot would touch my hands. How do I improve then my lotus kick?

Inquiry on Membership

I would like to be a member of the Association. I live in the Philippines, so I'm required to mail an application form which requires me to write my Visa Card Account Number. I feel however that revealing my account number through mail is quite risky. Is there no other way to pay? Please let me know.
