Re: birth control
I would say that decline in cravings may be due to simply more control physically and mentally. If someone with a sexual addiction were to practice, they may find they gain less out-of-control urges, while their ability to perform is heightened. I can go 5+ times in a day, or not at all for weeks, a...

breathing and other stuff... 110%!!
Joe Pass (jazz guitarist) mentioned not playing the complicated chords, rather sticking to 'grips' that are easily formed and moved from/to. This is like a martial artist avoiding flashy high kicks like seen in the movies, but which are only reasonable when the opponent is stunned or back is turned....

strait or lean
Strait or leaning postures... I watched Yang Zhenduo in a video discussing the long form in fair detail. During this video he says something like lean on postures with both arms in one direction, but stay strait with postures with separated arms. Ex. Single whip has strait while wardoff has leaning....

Re: The role of the spinal column in Taijiquan
Many great and detailed answers. Go pros! Here's a quick note: The limbs are like branches of a tree, especially the energy sent downwards as you sink the weight and chi through the feet like roots (hence 'rooting'). The remaining is like the trunk. The spine/trunk is what everything 'hangs/grows' f...

Re: Confucian theory relation Taijiquan?
Attention to general 'rules' or standards found within tai chi chuan can be considered relative to Confucian philosophy. Although standards exist, especially commonly occurring conditions, you should flow with the natural tides of life. Often this means what was a proper rule could be considered imp...

Re: Tai chi , emotional body armour , reichian therapy
'...desire in the sexual department...' Haha, yes! It's amazing, the whole body is invigorated. The sexual invigoration is always a big plus, as sexual vitality boosts overall vitality when not being wasted (indulging in constant ejaculations).

Re: Migraine
Lol, sorry, chi pressure is literally a feeling of the chi 'pressing'... Refer to tai chi classics which speak of 'swimming in air' etc. While doing the tai chi forms, it is considered proper practice to feel the chi energy both swirling all throughout you body, as well as surrounding you. This caus...

When doing any of the more strenuous activities whether with a weapon or not: further injury to already damaged areas may result. Always be careful and work from you level to advance. Good luck.

" Brief Introduction to Falun Dafa Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is an advanced self-cultivation practice of the Buddha School. Falun Dafa was founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice's master. It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, R...

Re: Tai Chi and Discrimination
Although the primary ideas are more confucianist in nature (right action/principled kind behavior - leading to an enlightened or higher-path spiritually), many of the specific meditations done can be considered in line with Taoist and Buddhist meditations... esp. development if considered via Bodhid...

Re: Bruce Frantzis Tai Chi Mastery Old Yang Style
I would love to learn from Bruce. I'm so jealous of his having learned the highest level chi stuff that some of the highest level masters had to offer. Wish I could help, but I'm poor. Kinda glad of it too. Good luck.

Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
To me, the form is like learning how to play an extremely complicated classical music piece, and once you've learned it, you could keep tweaking it and practicing it until it becomes ridiculously second nature. This is when boredom is exhibited the most perhaps. Two things: do it for health upkeep a...

Re: Wanting to start Staff/Pole form - Help needed
I actually regularly practice with a shoulder-height bamboo staff that I've made. My usual stuff is baguazhang, but I find movements leaning towards the direct hsing i chuan style to be more suitable to staff. My choice weapons are shoulder height staff, knife, and jian, although I don't currently h...

Re: Wanting to start Staff/Pole form - Help needed
Tip: hold the weapon and attempt to do the 103 form. I've found that with slight adjustments, any weapon can be used during the form. Try it for awhile, and you will see it starts to come together. If you have a great want to have martial applications available, rather than just building strength, v...

I have not, but don't let anything stop you from practicing what you can. Many instructional videos are available, and luckily you've found this forum with many highly experienced practitioners. Soak in as much information as you can, then practice 24/7 - make it a lifestyle. You'll keep what you fi...
