Re: Beginners
Look for a good teacher that you can get to. Learn from them (usually they can always teach some things you don't know, and give inspiration and focus. Main thing: PRACTICE what you've learned especially outside of class. If you're too poor to afford classes, no worries! Look around for people who p...

Re: Tai Chi and Discrimination
It's the same case with the Chinese government condemning falon gong practitioners, although it has some basis, mainly that Taoist literature criticized or gave recommendations to the running of government leadership. If Taoist philosophies such as are often taught alongside tai chi chuan happen to ...

Re: Starting and Running Your Own Martial Arts School
What you do in Tai Chi Chuan for health, and what you do for fighting are interwoven. It's a shame that people are misunderstanding the basic elements of what it is, and that you have to change according to what they are willing to learn. If you are a music teacher, and someone just wants to learn a...

Teaching in Southwest Florida
I'm looking for one serious student to learn what I have to teach completely. I'm in the Bonita Springs area (between Fort Myers and Naples). I mix a lot of techniques from many styles, but primarily focus on a baguazhang system I've honed over the years, and Tai Chi stuff like tui shou and form mov...

Re: How to Make Tai Chi Classes more Fun?
Thanks fchai for stating that it's something to be taken seriously, and not meant to be fun, but rather should be considered a high-endeavor for life changing results. I feel like I should be similar to some old kung fu master who only accepts students after they kowtow and complete tasks to show th...

Re: How to attract students, particularly younger
I think the answer being sought is more along the lines of 'how to find youths/younger to teach'? I would recommend posting it as an after school activity, much like the 'after school karate' studios do. Perhaps advertisement in local publications with graphics that pop with INTESITY noting the bene...

Re: ah food
Grains, fruits, vegetables, seafood, and herbs. Green tea. Nuts and vegetables are best snacks, as fruits are sweet and it's easier to have too much. Since dried vegetables usually don't taste appealing compared to fruits, it is often the fruits that get picked for trail mixes. Eggs are nice too if ...

Re: Migraine
If you shift your head slightly against chi pressure repetitively until the migraine is dulled, work it more and more until the 'off' area being noticed and worked on shifts. Keep doing this until there is nothing off in your body, and you'll not only have perfect health, but be a great qi gong mast...

Re: New...HI!!
The 'pain in the butt' could also be from the bowling... It's lower butt where attaches to leg (sciatic area) likely. When you don't tuck the tailbone during any physical actions, high chance of issues in this area. Do this: inhale, bring hands up the front of your body lightly touching the skin sta...

Re: New...HI!!
If the pain/ache is in your lower sides of neck, shoulder blades, and legs above the knee: likely from the bowling. If you even visualize mentally doing the act of bowling - you may notice your attention of what areas the force/weight is sent to. Being able to do this visualization is of great benef...

Re: weight lifting
I find the best benefits from activities that you have a difficult, though not TOO hard to do... then doing that all day. Laborious work like digging trenches all day, but adding in the working of chi while doing it can allow it to benefit, not break down. Almost any activity can break down the body...

Re: birth control
It depends on the intention that is cultivated while practicing, and what practices are done. A couple practices I've worked with are drawing the chi from sperm up the spine and allowing it to merge with the energy already following the microcosmic cycle... Wow, what a rush!! Also, I've worked regul...

Re: Tai chi , emotional body armour , reichian therapy
I have had extreme stress, where my nerves are literally causing me to shake all over. Qi Gong and Tai Chi does not eliminate this from happening, but helps reduce the negative effects of it, and lessens the length of such seemingly overwhelming states. Love gone wrong and severe physical or emotion...

That being said: I usually place no attention to breath particularly, but rather on feeling the pressure of the chi build where I focus as I relax more and more.

Re: What Is Qigong ..? please explain
Although breathing is often focused on, it traditionally was for having something to focus on to eliminate distractions of the mind, and thusly allowed a relaxed and unhindered state from which chi/prana could be felt and directed (mostly followed with attention because the paths and directions the ...
