Thank you for your responses, Tai1chi and Gene. Mostly they clarify what I have been feeling but perhaps was not quite willing to accept. This person is a very good teacher; he communicates well, sets realistic goals for students and mostly he is supportive and encouraging. Gene, I think I'll follow...

I have recently discovered that my teacher has not been taught the entire Yang Long Form. He is missing many connecting moves. His reluctance to teach the 2 person set and many applications of the form now make sense to me. I was very surprised since he claims to have the true transmission, "th...

I have been following this thread with interest. Like a lot of persons, I sometimes find myself in restricted space. This topic raises a question someone my be able to shed some light on. I heard of a "jailhouse set", does anyone have any knowledge of this form? It seems that this may be o...

Hello Jimmyg, Sorry I was so delinquent in responding to your inquiry. The Luohan set ( 18 Palms of Bhudda ) is a QG set. It was developed around 500 AD by Da Mo (Bohidharma)when he arrived at Shaolin Temple. This is a marvelous set that builds muscle, tendon and flexibility as well as helps develop...

Hi Jimmyg... I could go on at length about the stress reduction and increased health benefits of TC. Like you I have begun this journey quite recently - I'm a neophyte. However, along with my TC I practice QiGong and also a Luohan 18 Palms of Bhudda. I feel these forms are very helpful in TC, but I ...

Hello Audi: In response to your questions - and please remember I'm new at this and do not have any MA background - unless you consider rugby a MA. I started my Tai Chi studies only within the last year. My first response to an aggressor is to get away without a confrontation, however when not given...

I have been following the thread of this discussion. I'm quite new to Tai Chi but I thought the first rule of TC is avoid getting hit, followed by open up your opponent, then take advantage of the opening. Again, let me say I'm a neophyte here so please let me know how far off centre I am.
