You've all heard my story, ad nauseum, so I won't repeat it here. I merely want to take the opportunity to tell you that I will no longer be posting on this site under this name. I will still be around, but as a different personality due to my being different now. I have had a bit of a change in my ...

Oh, I nearly forgot. I'm sneaking on at work and am a bit pressed for time right this minute, but someone above mentioned the timing of the right foot pivot. I have found, and this is purely my observations and those of my push/pull/shove/yank/fall down/laugh at each other cause we're not doing this...

I hesitate to ask any questions here, because I don't want to make Bill's head explode or anything, but I will just for giggles. If his head explodes, I'll let you all know (Hi, Bill). The GM seems to be stepping to somewhat less of a seperation between his legs than I have seen others use in bow st...

Addendum to my last post: Bill was kind enough to contact me off the boards and straighten me out on which palm placement the Grand Master is saying is correct. Thanks Bill! See you Saturday, since you can't make it tonight. I had to ask, though. Like I said, one of the ways he shows is very much li...

Master Yang Jun gave nearly this same demonstration at the Louisville seminar. It has helped me quite a bit, though as Bill can tell you (go ahead Bill, tell 'em), it didn't help me enough. I still have trouble with this adjustment, though not as much as I used to. You can bet this will be a topic w...

Audi, Yes, we did discuss this then, but I didn't understand what you were telling me back then. I spent Saturday morning going over Brush Knee and Twist Step, Yang Cheng Fu style, with Bill W. and I feel quite a bit better about that posture, White Crane Lifts Wings since we started with the transi...

Yuri, Did you read what WB and I posted? If a confrontation "absolutely unavoidable", is what was said. I, at least, only know a confrontatin is "unavoidable" after my opponent has made his decision to strike, not before. So no, no conrtradiction at all. The confrontation is happ...

Thank you very much. A very good clip with much to ponder even if I can't understand a word being said. I would sincerely like to know what the Grand Master is saying though. I don't speak any Chinese, of any dialect, beyond "Hoa" and "Xie jien", if I've even spelled them correct...

Louis, You are correct, I was typoing all through there. Like I've said, many times, don't try to teach me chinese because I can barely be coherent in English and I've been being using that language, incorrectly, my entire life. Jerry, No, you've got that backwards and I have to stick with my origin...

WB, It sounds like what you're saying is one good defense is a swift, incapacitating offense? In some cases, I would have to agree. I have often heard that T'ai Chi Ch'uan embraces both hard and soft, so... In your case as presented though, having worked in employee management for over twenty years ...

Marc, Hi, welcome to the discussion forum. I have no knowledge of the Yang family broadsword (dao) form history. I have seen it once or twice, but not ever studied it. I am currently in the process of training the Gim form, or sword form, of the Yang family and am having quite enough fun with that w...

Jerry, Generally, a good post. I must agree that the principals of each style are far more significant than the forms themselves and that learning the principals of each style will take you where you wish to go quicker than the forms. Let us not forget, however, that some of the "ten essentials...

Well... That was interesting. Bill and I worked on the toe up or toe down thing on Saturday. The big answer? It's a personal choice. We covered a lot of good reasons why to leave them down, the biggest that stuck in my mind is that by lifting your toes and taking the magic inch we have described her...

Audi, I have learned a couple of applications for hooking my foot behind an opponent to offset him, and you use your raised toes in this position to do so. Mostly form GTBT, but also in Fair Lady. I will try your suggestions when I can pry myself away from CBT training for Microsoft Certification. I...
