Wushuer,

Thanks, I missed that. Much appreciated! But where is that info, I can't find it. I know when you tell me I will hit myself in the head but.....I do that quite often.

Thank you Wushuer, Jerry and David who all anwered for me in their distinctive styles. Being a history freak, my goal at one time was to see what could be found to be the closest to the "original" Yang Lu chan set. Well I found all kinds of kinds of stuff that boasted it was the "orig...

Louis, Yes I do have Olsons book, that one and another. I recomended to someone else "Intrinsic Energies" and found that it was out of print. Dragon Door became enirely obsessed with With that Pavel guy and his Kettle balls. They left a number of good things slip away. "It would be gr...

Louis,

I know this is no use to the dicussion. But what you post makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks also for the reference to the statement in "Intrinsic Energies.." I will have to look back at that.

Teacher in Raleigh/Durham North Carolina

A student of mine is headed to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area in North Carolina and I am looking for a good Yang style teacher for him. If anyone knows of anyone who comes highly recomended I would greatly appreciate it. He is very good after just a year and would like to see him really progres...

Wushuer,

"I've been made better, not worse, by this training. I've been in no danger. My art has not suffered, in fact it's grown."

"Just one mans opinion."

Two men's opinion.

Polaris, I understand you a little better now. I would agree that most of the "technique" you will find within an art--but not all, at least in a "formal" way, or taught as in my example above concerning the KP Brush knee. BUt not all teachers teach them all, often mostly what th...

Thanks Jerry, You verify all my thoughts concerning what I have heard from Yang Jun, what he implies and what my teacher tells me about Yang Jun's comments. There is an outward form but it varies with the individual and as one progresses. But the princples do not. Thanks [This message has been edite...

Jerry, I think your last post is an important one. To study and understand the "mainstream" of your style is very imprtant to understand and to be able to discern the quality of what other teachers are offering. This is in no way being negative towards my Kuang Ping, the system or it's tea...

Wandering Brit, I welcome you! I have no authoritative answer for you. I'll just take a stab at it, Wushuer will get some info for you. This is only conjecture. My guess it that he "allowed" you to drain yourself of energy. Were you using your waist or your arms? Was He using his waist? Wh...

Polaris, I would not disagree with much from your recent post other than this. "From my personal experience, if a training system is complete then there seems no practical need to continue routines from another (especially unsupervised) at the same time." I have not studied any other tai c...

How could one forget? Why would you want to? In no way is this disrespectful. Polaris' stand is from Traditionalist based thinking. I understand that but, but it is rather "narrow" to my way of thinking. I know little except for this---the more I understand from my experience will only mak...

Polaris, I expect most of what you have written is for Wushuer..... Only speaking for myself. I would agree with what you say. I would also say that if one studied Wu (let's say)for years and now was training in Yang style his former tarining will never leave them. It will always color some of what ...

Wushuer, You are preaching to the choir here my friend. Even though my post was addressed to you, not all contained were to you directly--esp the last lines which were to others. You discribe the evolution of TCC, that is the way it works and evolves. Yang Jun does not do the set as his grandfather....

Wushuer, Don't have much time but just a comment or two until later when I can read your whole post. Technique? If it fits with a form..I don't think that there is anything to even consider. I taught my YCF teacher techniqes I learned in Kuang Ping Yang Style, and some Shaolin tech that are found in...
