So, it’s all in the mind? I’ll say so. Many folks who practice this stuff though, are often hesitant to say so. After all, it is kind of difficult to explain. It’s all in the mind just like the stair that makes one hop when it is not there. Jeff [This message has been edited by Gu Rou Chen (edited 1...

All advanced-level players I have met demonstrate various internal energy expressions without changing external position. So, external position does not correspond in an absolute fashion to internal energy expression. To develop this internal energy we use martial postures (external) that have fixed...

We need to distinguish between Internal Motion and External Motion to discuss this. In the process of going from large expansive frame training to highly integrated, small frame training there is a natural shift from more external motion/less internal activity to less external motion/more internal a...

Thanks for the quote Yuri. Too bad Shi Ming could not have given credit to his teachers. Would have been nice to hear him describe his training. Maybe we will hear from his students someday. Louis: "I’m curious how you arrive at this if you haven’t seen the Chinese version." Experience. Kn...

Yuri: Shi Ming's book is actually quite an amazing translation. There are only a couple places where it appears to be off the mark. Unfortunately, I too, have been told there is no Chinese version available. Can you ask your friends what Shi Ming's lineage is? He does not mention anything about it i...

Here is a short paragraph from Wang Yongquan (Wang learned from the Yangs in Beijing) on spiraling: 'Luóxuán'; 'spiraling' has two meanings: One meaning refers to the use of rotational hand movements to avoid the end-point of the opponent's force as you are luring to neutralize (yǐnhuà) or striking ...
