2006 Ma-Anshan declaration

Hi, I was reading "A Taste of China" schedule for 2007. In the teacher's exchange and forum event there is mentioned the Ma-Anshan declaration which "defines the three main traditions that are currently active in Taijiquan..."--forgive my ignorance, but what are they? Ma-Anshan i...

Could you list the names of movements of the 16 posture form? Who put this together? I was just thinking today how hard it is to practice for any length of time when one has young children or a busy career. I'm glad you take time and have these short forms to practice in your stairwells. I like the ...

Hi, Does anyone recall Master Yang's story about the "bow" step being called the "nail and eight" step because of some particular Chinese characters which made it look one foot straight (90 deg.) and one foot (45 deg.)? Perhaps some of the Chinese scholars would know this. Master...

travel sabre

As I pack to go to Alaska for a couple of weeks, I'm wishing I had a practice saber comparable to my practice sword (the telescoping variety). I'm thinking since a saber can't telescope, maybe there could be one that had a hilt that would screw off. My little wood practice sabre is too long for my c...

I agree. I started saber too soon and my knees paid for it because my stances were not solid enough.

16 Posture Form

Jeremy Blodgett mentions a "16 Posture Form" in his article in the most recent TCC journal (p.7). Is this significantly different from the 13 posture form? Will you be offering it?
Thanks

Dsg, I kept hoping someone would respond to your inquiry on "post standing." Guess, I'll just have to put my two cents in. My original teacher taught this as a way of learning the postural principles of TCC (and Chi Kung), deepening and strengtening the breath, gaining strength in the lowe...

Hi, I too read a brief summary of that article about TCC and boosting immunity esp. to shingles on Dr.A.Weil's website. The study was published in the 9/03 issue of "Psychosomatic Medicine." Good news since shingles is caused by the chickenpox virus which can stay indefinitely in your body...

Hi, Master Yang Jun talked about the 13 move form in the "Ask Yang Jun" thread on 3/02 and 10/01. He also mentioned it at the recent Seattle seminar (and there was a small poster of Master Yang ZD performing it on the Center wall). He said that this form was created at the urging and with ...

Hi Wushuer, I was in that same boat and in 1998 went to my first seminar with YZDand YJ in VA. It was a very frustrating experience as I dug in my heels, I cried, I complained, and generally resisted learning this new way of doing the form. I resolved that I would practice both this new form and my ...

Thanks "Eli", For the addresses in your last post. I did go there (taichiacademy one) and found a great abstract on TCC and osteo. However, I could not get to the full text. I tried the journal, volume, etc. mentioned, but that article was not listed. However I did find one of the names li...

TCC as osteoporosis prevention

I know there are some studies out there on TCC and arthritis, and balance, and even on cardio-pulmonary benefits, but what about osteoporosis? I hear of chi settling in the bones and making them heavy. My first teacher, a diabetic, who was very slight in stature had a very "heavy" (not ten...
