I know I'm just the village idiot here (I don't read or speak Chinese), and I should probably keep reading, keep my trap shut, and you've probably already solved this; but how about instead of "running away" you think of it as staying just out of reach? That's how I think of "yielding...

Sometimes you should let the energy just take you wherever it wants to. But not all the time. Usually I would say on your final repetition of the form in your practice session - assuming you don't have students watching. ;o)

My experiences differ a little from Bob's. The style that just wouldn't "click" for me was Wu. I just couldn't seem to get the footwork down. I blame Bob. http://www.yangfamilytaichi.com/ubb/wink.gif Sun style went VERY well. I think it was the one I retained the most of throughout the wee...

Before I jump off a very high cliff, let me repeat that I enjoyed both poems, and bought Billy Collins' "Ballistics" yesterday. Like Audi, I smile a bit when doing the form, though maybe not quite so broadly, and no laughter as yet. Often I just let my form do itself, or maybe let the mind...

We certainly wouldn't want THAT to happen! Oh, well. I still plan to look up Mr. Collins on my next trip to the bookstore. I was surprised that you were surprised by the "bump" in Snake Creeps Down. i've been trying to think of some other little "hidden" moves but am not having m...

I'd also suggest both Ward Offs for the same reason and in the same places (where the arms cross)Audie gave for Wild Horse Parting the Mane. Bob, you're trying to make my brain hurt. Now you're going to have me thinking of what other positions/energies I can transition into in the middle of every po...

And, as Yang Jun said in Michigan last November when asked how to feel one's qi (and in the latest newsletter), do the form 3 times back-to-back every day. I'm still building up to that. I can manage twice; but there always seems to be an interruption before a third rep. <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="...

Love both poems. I'll have to read some of Collins' work now. Ginberg reminds us of the fact that the principles of Taiji spill over into all other aspects of our life, though maybe not exactly as his obstacle course. :^) Ah, well. I need to read through the thread now. Thanks for both poems. <BLOCK...
