signing off!

Hey guys, I'll be leaving for a while in an ARMY deployment. I won't be posting here for sometime. It has been fun and I've had a lot of interesting discussions with everybody from which I have learn a lot of information to improve my taijiquan. I hope to come back in one piece and continue to argue...

Cool link graham. It looks like the first form from the chen system (jiao lia yi lu), although the execution is more "yanglike" to call it something, and It can certainly resemble some of the older yang style forms I've seen, such as the yang ban hou form. By looking at this form, is easie...

Oldtaijiquan,

I like your chart. If its not 100% accurate, it has to be the closest theory.

The way I see it, both methods are correct. The question would be, which one is better for me, according to the end result I want to achieve? I would advise to experiment with both, not only in form practice but also in push hands and applications, to see how it "feels". I actually practic...

whats the "oficial" position on the yang family (YZD/YJ) on this issue? Do they acknowledge the existence of and "old yang style" in contemporary times? do they also practice it? is the chang san feng theory supported by them? It would be really interestign to know, and who would...

I learned from the yang ban hou lineage, and we do start the form with palms facing in (each other). There is also a lot of coiling and a lot of spine movement for power genration. Fah jing is performed within the form, although not on every posture, There are two fast kicks with "ha" soun...

Yangchengfu04, You have no idea (maybe you do) how lucky you are having that pace at home where to practice. I wish to have that to someday. The house I live in now actually has a large hallway in wich I can fit my xingyiquan forms perfectly. Its really narrow, but since these forma are linear and c...

Wushuer, I agree. A short form can be useful. I guess that as long as we know there is a long form and that we need to work on it as well isted of limitng ourselves with just the short one, we can get the benefits from both. Im laughing about the bathroom comments from you guys, because I do the sam...

Jerry, Nice article. I think I've read it before. It does support the argument that the long form is better for individual practice. Wushuer, Im also on the "watch the green bar" business! LOL! But Im also in the Army National Guard. Sometimes, when I am activated, I will have little perso...

Long forms/short forms

I dont know if it has been discussed here before or not, but here it goes. Im sure a lot of people in here will have interesting views on the subject. We all know the traditional form of Yang style taijiquan is the long 108 form. It can be named 98, 112, 103, etc, deppending on the way the movements...

Well, firt of all, welcome "brit"! Glad to have you here!!! I've heard some people talk about this issue, but I've never experienced it myself. I do know however that in Tui shou and chi sao (yes thy are very similar), there is energy exchange between the practitioners. I was reading the o...
