I could be wrong, and I don't mean any disrespect to anyone, but it seems many people seem to forget about the Yeung Sau Chung lineage. You don't hear it even mentioned except from their students and disciples. There are staff forms and exercises, saber, sword, two-man set, fast form, dynamic push h...

Actually, I was at the Gin Soon Chu birthday banquet last night (he turned 72), and I saw this form performed; as well as many others. At least I'm fairly sure it was the form you are speaking about. As far as I know, I've never seen them teach it to anyone while I've been there, but the nephew did ...

In my club, you do the form for a loooong time. They say that's how it's always been done and that's how they'll always do it. At this point, I am on my fourth correction of the YCF long form. I look around me and see everyone else doing dynamic push hands, pulling, spear, sword, saber, 2-man, etc. ...

Polaris, that is great!! I love it. I also have told people that when I'm an old man I do not want to be a "shoe gazer!" I realize that some seniors citizens have a medical condition, but other than that, I hope to be walking upright and with a pep!

I don't think Duffy has really thought out his decision, or maybe the truth is he just doesn't care for it as much as he thinks he does. I also have been playing guitar (25 years now) and have time to do both. As well as work full time and spend time with my SO. As a matter of fact, I believe it's p...

Hey guys, Thanks for your comments. I just wanted to know if I was the only one who feels this way. It's good to know we are all sharing the same journey. It doesn't feel so daunting that way. One thing I do know for sure is........ I MUST PRACTICE, and PRACTICE OFTEN! Another thought I often have.....

Understanding Changes doesn't it?

Some simple thoughts here; just thinking out loud. Here's what has become clear to me after another year of TCC practice (4 years in all) ........... 1) The longer I practice, the less I know. 2) The longer I practice, the better I am than before. 3) The better I get, the worse I seem to be (in comp...

They surely do. Unless I'm stepping wrong, I seem to need at least a 15x15 area for practice, maybe even 20x20. I'll have to measure my practice hall tonight, because it's "just" enough space to fit the form in. Even though my hand is almost on the wall at certain postures. I'm still tryin...

OYT, thank you for the definitions. Your description of the YSC curriculum appears to be consistent to what they teach at my current school. I was, and am being taught to use the weighted pivot. Also, we do open the arms before all the kicks in the form.

OYT, can you explain in more detail what you mean by the weighted pivot please? I'm not sure I understand. I was taught the Yang Sau Chung version, and I'd like to understand what you are describing.

As I am not as experienced as some others here, the more I learn, the more I can become confused. There are so many TC folks disagreeing these days about what is correct or not correct, it becomes a minefield of sorts. Who do we listen to?? I suppose the Yang family, and the current teachers who stu...

YCF form differences

Hi Folks, After reading the Louis Swaim book (very informative, and well done by the way), I see that my form (as I have learned it) is almost exactly the same except for a few differences. The main difference I see is that the 3 sets of cloud hands are done differently in my school. In the first se...

Practice time and space certainly are critical factors in the modern age. ...... But, I'm sure even in the old days people still had the same amount of responsibilities that we do. If you think about it, maybe even more since the quality of life was a bit tougher then. I mean it's not like they had ...

rvc_ve: Regarding limited space, I forget where I saw it on the web, but I did a quick search and found this link: (I'm not sure I quite understand it, but in the meantime, I'll look for the other article). http://www.soton.ac.uk/~maa1/chi/netguide/smallspace.htm Wushuer I am also in the computer wo...
