Dragon X, My personal opinion, which is worth just about what you paid for it, is; Not usually but they could be expressed that way. Sort of ambiguous, I know, but that's the very nature of Tai Chi Chuan. The way I see it, which is just a tiny peek through a small window into a very large room admit...

Re: experiment with Pedometer++ app
I've long believed that we do not "step" in the traditionally thought of way in TCC; we hold our center on one leg, then extend the opposite leg and shift our body weight over to it until our center is held there.
Repeat.
This is pretty cool information.
Thanks for posting it.

Re: Mind and Spirit
If you want to feel how important "Empty, Lively, Pushing Up and Energetic" is then simply start doing moving step pushing hands. This Principle is what allows you to stay centered and rooted while stepping, at least in my opinion (which is worth just about what you paid for it). Without i...

Orihara,
No one that I saw was advocating using an entire axe as a substitute for a saber, only the handle.

BB, I do my best to integrate all of YCF's Ten Essentials as I find each of them to be... well... Essential. I don't focus on just aspect all the time, though I do sometimes isolate one aspect for training purposes. Also I will do so from time to time when I teach my classes. When I do that I make c...

Re: What to do? Beginner experiences tremendous sexual energ
Lohany,
No reason not to discuss it as long as it's a serious inquiry.
I do think that you are following the best course by just going with it and not worrying about it.
No reason to worry, it's a perfectly normal and healthy response to a renewed level of vitality in your life.

Re: New Brennan translation: More Chen Yanlin material
Audi, I agree with Chen Yanlin's statement, as translated by Brennan: "as a compromise between the two things – the “hips”." As you know I am a proponent of using the word "hips" to teach the process of transferring the energy created by the "legs" to the "waist&qu...

Lohany, I am going to treat your inquiry as serious since you've come back already to look for any answers you may have received. Please understand that there are a lot of people who try to "bait" online forums for responses to questions like these for reasons I truly do not understand or ...

Dpasek, As my Si Kung likes to say, "Everyone's an expert and they can all talk theory with you for days." I'm not denigrating you in any way, I'm talking about the "talking heads" on the link you posted who all feel that their own views on this are the only ones that matter. The...

Re: New Brennan translation: More Chen Yanlin material
I will state once again for the record that I have absolutely ZERO expertise at translation and so my post will not bear on that aspect of this thread in any way, shape or form. I am simply replying with my thoughts on/personal experience with what Louis has posted: "Although the transformation...

Re: Tai chi and external arts combined?
Sugelanren, There are many paths one can take to reach the understanding of Tai Chi Chuan. Not all of them are suitable for everyone and opinions will vary as to which is the "correct" path. However, I believe the correct path is always going to be the one you're on as long as you remain d...

Re: Interview with Ng Kwongyu--5th Generation Wu Style
T, Knowing how to fall and making that work for you is a pretty big deal. I am very glad Si Kung made sure we knew how to fall, tumble and recover. Now I know that the ground is my friend. Beyond that we also learned "ground fighting" techniques at Wu's Academy. Where I very quickly learne...

BB, Believe it or not I just saw this post. I have no idea how I missed it all this time as I've visited here fairly regularly. I have seen this video before, however the one I saw had before no sub-titles so I had no idea what was being said. Thanks for the link to the subtitled video, I am glad to...

Re: Kung Fu Quest - Tai Chi
I have skimmed through the first video posted, I have not watched it in depth except for one part, the bit that features Si Kung Eddie Wu. I saw his face and immediately found where his bit started and watched it quite closely because he was my teacher for a long time and I always watch everything I...
