Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
The form is much less important than the internal energy. Maybe try practicing a new form. Or find a new teacher. If you don't have a regular teacher that may be part of the problem. Getting motivated to practice is always a problem for me, that is why I attend regular group classes. Something abou...

Dao is a Chinese Broadsword. The fajin form you will likely only find in direct lineage to Tung Ying Chieh

Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
It would likely have been Tung Hu Ling, He taught in Thailand, he could have also trained with my shift who helped Tung Hu Ling , briefly, in Thailand. I like the Tung Ying Chieh fast form, the form I am relearning is what was called the Fajin form. There is also a longer and somewhat faster Dao for...

Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
Thank You Louis I should also add with my re-examination and deeper view of taijiquan that I also appear to have lost interest in all other arts I once trained and simply want to focus on taijiquan. And it is exactly as you said, "It's amazing how after years of practice one can continue to dis...

Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
Back at it with my Sifu, Tung Ying Chieh lineage, but I have found that focusing more on the internal and the actual movement as it applies to that as well as paying attention to details like opening, closing and sinking as well as rooting have made it a lot more interesting and I have found that th...

Re: Tai Chi and Discrimination
Frankly I am of the belief that if ones religion or spirituality is threatened by Taiji...that spiritual belief and spirituality was not all that strong in the first place.

Re: How to Make Tai Chi Classes more Fun?
Sorry but I can't think of, nor to I want to think of, a way to make taijiquan novel and push hands without an understanding of the form or at least the 13 postures is, IMO, not push hands, its a dance. I currently find Taiji very interesting and enjoyable as it is. And I am speaking as one who did ...

Re: Tung Ying Chieh's Spear Form
I started learning it, but it was a long staff form, not a spear form. my sifu was a student of Tung Ying Chieh. However I had to stop due to knee injuries I got, not related to taijiquan or the long staff form. I am now back training and hope to return to it once I get the other forms back

Re: Silk reeling
I trained Chen Silk reeling with Chen Zhenglei but my lineage is in Yang style to Tung Ying Chieh As my sifu said (his sifu was Tung Ying Chieh) of silk reeling, "its all in the form" And based on what I trained (Chen and Yang) I would have to say it is all in the form, it is just more sub...

Re: Methods of fajin training
From Tung Ying Chieh there is both stationary and movement training of Fajin. It is found in his 2 fast forms. Tung Family fast form: http://youtu.be/9jJ0eTawWzU That is Tung Ying Chieh second fast form and it is a combination of Yang and Wu(Hao) style. Also it is being modified by Tung Hu Ling due ...

Re: Lost desire to do taijiquan
I tried multiple things to get myself to start working on Taiji again to no avail. Then one day a week ago I was standing in Zhan Zhuang and all of a sudden had the desire to do the long form, so I did... but I did not stop there, I found myself doing some of the Chen style 18 form I learned a while...
