This is really a gold mine, like Louis said. Too bad for people like me who don't know chinese language at all.
I was watching Yang Chengfu's first book. http://martialart.giss.ncpes.edu.tw/tai ... r=095B00AK
I find it very interesting. It allow us to see the evolution of Yang style through time, even in the same Yang Chengfu. It is obvious that this form is totally diferent of the pictures shown in his later book (in refinement terms).

On the other hand, I would like to know who is the other guy on the book? I mean, at the end of the book we can see Chen Wei Ming's pics of the whole 103 form. But Is He the same that appears on the first pages, where we can see photos alternate with those of Yang Cheng Fu?
Who are these people doing push hands?
What year was published this book?
I hope someone knows

Greetings César,

That is Chen Weiming's 1925 book, Taijiquan Shu (The Art of Taijiquan). The photos alternating with YCF are of CWM. I've forgotten who the guy is with CWM in the push hands photos. Anyone know?

Regarding the people doing push hands in the Chen Weiming book, I belive this page shows Chen Weiming, but I can't identify the bearded partner:

On this page, I believe it's a young Yang Chengfu. His partner may be Xu Yusheng (Xu Longhou), but I'm not positive: http://martialart.giss.ncpes.edu.tw/tai ... 075072.jpg

Hi César,

Xu Yusheng studied with Yang Jianhou, Yang Chengfu, and other great masters when he headed the Beijing physical education research society in the '20s.

His 1925 book is also in the database. The line drawings are quite interesting. Check out this page showing "Cross Hands.":

Hi, I was (desperatly!) looking for the first book by Yang Chen Fu, when I ran into this discussion.
I'm very interested in comparing the two form sets photographs by Yang Chen Fu: I own "The Essence and Applications of Taijiquan" translated by Mr Swaim, but can't find the earlier book.
Please, can anyone tell me where I could find it?
