Yielding and sacrificing refer to living one's life as a dignified thinking person, eating bitter and separating the false from the real. A lot of people (although I am less inclined to do so) like talking about philosophical concepts but they never employe it in their life. They talk but do not live.
If you yield, there is less need for conflict (it doesn't disappear) but at least the implicit warning was present. The person who is attacking may not stop but you increase the pain accordingly as needed, if you can so you talk with action.
