When seeing Yang Jun performing the spin on the heel from Separation of right Heel into Turn and Kick with Left Heel, I seem to remember him NOT having the arms crossed at the end of the spin. My notes from this last summer seem to bear this out but the memory gets dimmer and dimmer and is always suspect.
I have seen it done with the the arms crossing during the pivot, which is how I was originally taught to do it(which is found in the YZD and Fu Zhonwen books), but I have also seen on a tape the arms extended to the right and then cross them after the pivot was completed. Any clarification on how the Association (Yang Jun) is teaching this now, would be greatly appreciated.
Transition into Turn and Kick With Right Heel
Hi Michael,
I believe the arms cross just as the pivot is completed. If you can view the preview of the video of the 49-movement form just posted on this site, you can actually view this move. I believe the logic is that the right arm should more or less follow the waist movement and thus close with the left arm more or less as the pivot is completed.
Take care,
Audi
