Forms ranking

I am aware that the Taiji school over there has testing for ranks in Yang taiji and it looks very similar to what some teachers in china have done with ranking for Dragon, Tiger, Eagle. for example- Fu Sheng Yuan received a Silver Dragon for his examiniation by some Beijing people for showing his Yang Taiji and weapons.

How does it work for someone who wants to get ranked in america with the Yang Jun association and has been doing taiji for many many years as opposed to someone who is new at your school? what if someone who has already learned the Yang long form, saber, straight sword, spear , stationery, moving and da lu push hands? What is the proper protocol?
