Hi, looking for some combat tai chi instructor or group in the Seattle area.
(Actual self defense applications, not just form and push-hands).
Thank you!

Hi,
There are a number of skilled instructors from various respected tai chi lineages teaching in Seattle. Many of them teach the martial applications as an essential part of what it is to learn tai chi. While some of them will demonstrate the martial applications from the outset (during beginners form class) I'm not certain that you will find anyone who teaches applications only without form and push hands.
Many tai chi people are of the opinion that the form and push hands are essential components of tai chi as a martial art.
The applications themselves can be learned very quickly, say, in a weekend seminar--but the art of using them in accordance with tai chi principles can take much longer, and push hands is a really useful method for doing that.
I think the best way is run a Google search for schools in Seattle. Then visit to see what suits your interests. Some teachers aren't on the Internet, of course, but it's a place to start. Best wishes for finding your teacher.
