As a relative newcomer to Yang style tai chi, my master continues to tell me that I need to have spiritual relaxation during my practice. I can't even relax physically, much less spiritually. I want to be able to do both. Any suggestions from anyone?

What constitutes Spirituality in the Martial Arts?
awareness of qi or chi!!
qi is only understood when your mind is 'here and now'
when mind is 'here and now' you can control your body with breathing, then your mind can come under control with internal silence. spirituality is the ability to have that door of internal silence opened over a extended period of time where the mind is not thinking. some can extend it to a few minutes...masters can do it for hours. this quite sitting has a very positive balancing effect on the central channel in the body that runs from top of head to perineum.
master it!!
