Thanks Bob, My overall view is that everything in taijiquan is contained in penglujiankao etc and the postures though they may be claimed to be externally different, I see them and continue to see them as just variation of penglujiankao, etc. Just like "fair lady" is a variation of "g...

tanmeirryu, Nothing wrong with your interpretaion as long as it fits with your learning and understanding! The transition fron single push hands to double push hands should involve concepts of waist turning (as opposed to whole body though body is part of the axis within process) where it is (can be...

A difficult response vs what the talking heads say plus experiential knowledge! If I am facing forward (fan back or fair lady) then turn to respond to an attack, my experience would be that the forearm is raised as a blocking force (looking at inside palm) then palm turning to face outward to trap (...

Chen shi taijiquan developed from Chen family style, tongbei, Shaolin, etc of the day along with synthesis from close family members so inclined to martial endeavours! I would say that it is always ongoing as eveidenced by the laojia/xinjia dajia, etc variations that evolved according to the histori...

The best way to gain an understanding of any art is to give the teachers' name and whom he taught and who taught him!

One would imagine that if someone claims he learnt Yang styles animal forms from a Yang family that it would be present in the lineage! Apparently not so in the real world as far as logic is concerned.

JK,

That is the best point so far!
That is the silk reeling quality within the form expression so it is being utilized as a kind of 'wringing water out of a cloth' to dry out the cloth!
One may not do the martial part but the chansujin quality is there!

A good point! I realize there are many variation of posture exposition within Yang shi taijiquan but function/application will determine how 'Fan to Back' is used. From the way I learned that posture, after 'needle at sea bottom' (I am in a medium squat position depending on how low I go), as I rais...

thanks leroy,

It is good to get away from the status quo and actually ask questions but many just accept things as they are and peculiarly wonder why they do not progress in taijiquan, whether intellectually, martially or otherwise!

god speed!

Thank you clarkleroy,

It is rare for people to relate present occurences of students of Yang Chengfu! He had many students and sadly it is the 'less knowledgeable' who proliferate today than the truly experienced who share their training while being the true standard bearers of the art!

Thanks again
