Wushuer,
Good point about bringing the toes along as you turn. I notice this especially in Sword Form.
Take care

Hi, The toe vs heel adjustment is a debate people have alot. It is best if you can place your foot in the right position first, but even the Masters have to adjust for various reasons. The important thing is to do so naturally and get it in place at the right time (application). In this sense I don'...

Hi All, My Great Grandteacher, Li Ya Xuan, was a disciple of Yang Chen Fu - he also studied under Yang Jian Hou who was getting old at the time. As far a changes - there haven't been any in our lineage. You can see photos of Li Ya Xuan's postures - 3 pages of them - at this link http://home.pchome.c...

Hi, I'm glad you checked out the site I made for my Sifu and me. The Master's conference was a gathering of the leaders of the major styles and lineages. It was largely demonstrative. I have a video of the whole thing that was given to my Shifu as he performed with Lin Mo Gen there. I know the man s...

Hi People, I suggest that a teacher will be proud of their lineage as someone else stated. This is especially true of someone who is a disciple because of the commitment they have undertaken. When I first met my sifu I didn't even have to ask this - he volunteered it because he is proud of his teach...

Push Hands First? Hi, It reminds me of the difference in learning a trade or profession through post secondary schooling v.s. apprenticeship. Taiji Form is theory, push hands is applied. One could learn either way. At a higher level though, if there are two people with fairly even push hands skills ...

Hi All, I have observed that the concavity of the palm may change based on what the movement is. This is along the line of what Louis said about experiencing energy. If you are leading forward with the face of the palm the hand may open more. If leading with the back of the palm it may close a littl...

Hi All, I agree. But at the same time - get a good teacher with direct lineage and have confidence in them and what they teach. When you have a direct transmission you can rest easy that what you are learning is correct and concentrate in improving. You know what to look for from reading the classic...

Spinal Bow
Hi, I would like to see what others think about the spinal/torso bow. I notice that when I sink and bow my energy feels extremely stable and about to spring. This type of movement is considered gathering. As the spine extends the energy travels up and out the arms(issuing). This process from gatheri...
